What is Acivir Cream
Acivir Cream is an antiviral medicine that treats cold sores or fever blisters (Herpes Labialis).
Acyclovir is the main ingredient of Acivir cream.
It can help the sores heal faster and lessen pain (such as tingling, burning, and itching).
This is a prescription-based medication prescribed only to people with known medical conditions.
Cipla Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of Acivir 5 Cream.
Acivir Cream uses
It is prescribed mainly to treat Herpes Labialis.
Herpes Labialis, also called cold sores, is an infection due to a virus called Herpes Simplex.
This virus mostly affects the lip. Usually, a burning pain comes first, followed by small blisters or sores.
Acyclovir ointment is used to treat the first outbreaks of genital Herpes and certain sores caused by the virus in people with weak immune systems.
Working of Acivir Cream
Acivir cream contains Acyclovir, which belongs to a class of antiviral medications called Synthetic Nucleoside Analogs.
It functions by stopping the growth of the herpes virus.
Acyclovir inhibits herpesvirus DNA polymerase specifically.
This enzyme is essential for the replication of herpesviruses during the lytic phase of infection.
Thus, preventing it from spreading through the body.
