- Avoid these food items: There are some food items that you should avoid or minimize the intake of. It is one thing that you should definitely follow else your body may face consequences. Some of those include:
1. Raw Eggs: These are usually contaminated with Salmonella that could cause vomiting, fever, stomach cramps, diarrhoea etc. These symptoms are mostly found in a pregnant woman. Some food items that contain raw eggs are poached eggs, salad dressings, homemade ice creams, cake icings etc.
2. Unpasteurized dairy: Most of these products contain listeria which is a kind of food poisoning bacteria that could create complications in pregnant ladies. They could experience mild flu-like illness.
3. Caffeine: It is usually advised by the Gynaecologists for a pregnant woman to limit the consumption of coffee on their daily basis. It contains caffeine that is one of the most common psychoactive substances in the world. Caffeine is easily absorbed by the body and passed to placenta and fetus. Since unborn babies and their placenta do not have the main enzyme that is required to metabolize caffeine, high levels of caffeine build up in the body. This restricts the growth of a fetus and increase the risk of immature pregnancy.
- Acupuncture and Massage: Though acupuncture and massage are felt to be safe, there has not been any evidence that whether they are effective or not. You should not go for massages in some places where it could pose a threat to your pregnancy. For example, you should not get your abdomen massaged during the first three months of your pregnancy. Similarly, some acupuncture points are not considered safe for pregnant woman.
- Don’t drink and breathe secondhand smoke: Any type of alcohol consumption might be terrible for you and your pregnancy. It passes through your umbilical cord and placenta to your baby and can harm your developing baby’s brain as well as other parts of the body. Similarly, smoking is a threat to your pregnancy. Even breathing someone else’s smoke could cause damages. Both smoking and drinking may have serious consequences:
