1. Adiposis Dolorosa
It is a rare skin condition which is characterized by the growth of harmful and painful fatty tumors. This tumor made of fat tissues is known as the lipoma. These lipomas appear all over the body and are found in multiple extremities. It is also known as dercum disease. The exact cause of this disease is not known yet but some of the possible causes include nervous system dysfunction, mechanical pressure on nerves, adipose tissue dysfunction and trauma. Some of the symptoms of this disease include obesity, emotional instability, weakness, trouble with sleeping, memory issues, confusion, joint aches and shortness of breath. It has been noticed that most of the people who suffer from this disease did not have any family history of adiposis dolorosa but few cases of inheritance from family have also been reported. The growth of this fatty tumor can occur in any part of the body and can be of any size from small to large.
2. Trigeminal Neuralgia
Trigeminal Neuralgia is a condition in which patients suffer from the chronic pain disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve. The trigeminal nerve is that nerve which is responsible for the sensation in the face and motors the functions such as biting and chewing. Trigeminal Neuralgia is of two types that is typical and atypical trigeminal neuralgia. Typical trigeminal neuralgia is a condition in which person faces sudden and severe shock like pain on one side of the face which lasts for some seconds or minutes. Atypical trigeminal neuralgia is a condition in which patient suffer from constant burning pain but in this type, pain is less severe. The cause of this disease is not yet clear but many believe that this condition occurs due to the lack of myelin around the trigeminal nerve. Myelin is a lipid rich substance that is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system.
Cancrum Oris which is also known as Noma is a rare and infectious disease. It usually attacks children who lack hygiene, malnutrition and concurrent illness. It is an infection of the mouth or genitals. It destroys the tissues of the oral and paraoral structure. The mucous membranes of the mouth develop ulcers, tissue degeneration occurs which further degrades the tissues of the bones in the face. Smoking, measles, poor hygiene, unsafe drinking water are some of the causes of Cancrum Oris. According to studies, Noma is a disease that represents the face of poverty because the factors that are responsible or that contributes to disease progression also represents poverty such as malnutrition, poor hygiene etc..
Diphtheria is a disease which is caused by the bacterium Corynebacterium diphtheriae. The signs and symptoms of this disease start after two to five days after exposure and the symptoms can vary from mild to severe. Usually, it starts with a sore throat and fever but in severe cases, it causes grey and white patches in the throat. Diphtheria is usually suffered by those people who stay in direct contact through the air. This disease can lead to the decrease in platelets and can lead to health problems such as myocarditis, kidney problems, inflammation of nerves etc.. For the prevention of this disease diphtheria vaccines are available and are very effective. It can also be treated with antibiotics.
5. Epidermolysis bullosa
Epidermolysis is a condition in which person deals with easy blistering of the skin and mucous membranes. These blisters are painful and can occur with minor trauma or friction. The symptoms of this disease vary from mild to severe and the complications may include esophageal narrowing, skin cancer etc.. There are four main types of this disease epidermolysis bullosa simplex, dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa, junctional epidermolysis bullosa and Kindler syndrome.
