Linum usitatissimum

Linum usitatissimum or flax belongs to the family Linaceae and is widely used in the herbal medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure. Flax seeds contain gamma tocopherol which is a form of Vitamin E and the presence of gamma tocopherol affects blood pressure. It acts as an antioxidant and promotes the excretion of sodium in the urine and hence, it lowers the blood pressure.
