Why do I have rashes on my skin?

  • Medications: There are certain medications that can cause rashes in some people. Antibiotics can sometimes cause photosensitivity. It also leads to rashes on the skin.
  • Seborrheic Dermatitis: It is one of the most common types of rash that affects adults. It produces a kind of scaling on the skin which is generally red in color. It affects the scalp, brows, cheeks, ears etc.

What can I do if I have rashes

It comes in various forms and develops due to many reasons. However, there are many remedies that you can try at home to speed up the recovery and give you relief:

  • Do not wash your face with hot water. Use warm water.
  • Do not cover the rash with band-aid or something. Allow it to breathe.
  • Do not rub or pat the rash.
  • Do not scratch. If you do that, it will increase the risk of infection
  • Do not use any cosmetics or makeup products that could make your rashes worse.
  • Do not use scented soaps. Go for mild ones.
  • Baking Soda helps dry out skin rashes. It relieves the itching and skin inflammation that are associated with rashes.
  • Oatmeal is a great remedy for alleviating the symptoms due to its soothing as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Avoid any situation that leads to sweating: When the sweat ducts in the skin get clogged, heat rash develops. It mostly occurs in hot and humid conditions. So, avoid going outdoors. Use an air conditioner and take a shower regularly to cool down.
  • Wear lightweight as well as loose fitting clothes: Sometimes clothes that are tight fitting may irritate the skin and cause rashes by trapping heat emitting from the body. It’s better to allow your skin to breathe a little. For this, wear loose fitting clothes.
  • Drink Plenty of Water: Sometimes rashes can also occur when you do not drink plenty of water. So, to prevent dehydration, drink water. It will help you give smooth and flawless skin.
